Welcome

First of all, thank you for being interested enough to look up this webpage. Curiosity and desire to learn about ourselves and others is what I believe is at the foundation of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, and what brings about change.

This desire to learn and understand has brought me to train as a psychotherapist at three different levels: parent infant, child and adolescent, and finally, adult.  As a social worker, I see the environment and the culture, both internal and external, as having a profound impact on the individual, and as an analyst, I always keep in mind the effect of the past on the present.  As a researcher, I keep abreast of development in the fields of neuroscience, psychiatry and psychology, and welcome collaboration with professionals in those fields.  I believe that relationships are at the basis of our functioning as human beings, and my approach to therapy is through building a strong and safe relationship with my patients, one that will create an environment conducive to growth for all involved. I practice what is called “integrative psychotherapy”, which is a shortcut description of the appreciation for many different methods that have all shown effectiveness at alleviating what Freud famously coined as “difficulties in living”.  The complexity of human beings and the limitations of our present knowledge require keeping an open but discriminating attitude towards multiple approaches which each work under specific circumstances.  My philosophy is to welcome all possibilities and my training allows for a necessary ability to evaluate and select what is most appropriate for the situation at hand.

I continue to practice with all ages, from the infant and parent dyad, where I help to build the first and most significant relationship, to children and adolescents, to adults.  I am particularly focused on trauma and relieving its impact, both short and long term.
